Colonial Combat: Maroon Hunter

At Lemba's Palenque, Marcos the lookout spots a colonial slave hunter approaching on the trail and triggers combat. The hunter is accompanied by a tracking hound that appears beside him on the combat screen. This combat uses standard options (Attack, Talk, Negotiate, Item, Flee) rather than custom options.

Hound attack: 35% chance on enemy turn — the hound bites the player (reduced damage, but raises hostility +3).

Inventory

20-slot backpack (5x4) with unique code-drawn icons. Each item has a name, translated description, and type. Usable items (like healing items) are activated with E from the inventory.

Health can be restored in 3 ways:

If you use the items, you can get them again by talking to the NPC.

Dialogues

Dialogue system with typewriter effect, gold character name, response options support. Translated to ES/FR/EN.

Full Translation (i18n)

The entire game interface is translated into 3 languages (ES/FR/EN) with ~130 keys in the ui section of each language file. This includes:

Auto-Save

Saves to localStorage when returning to the map. Saves: progress, inventory, companions, health, gender, and language.

Toasts

Non-intrusive floating messages. Entry animation, dark background with golden border, max 4 simultaneous.

Photo Album (P key)

A visual collection system that records characters and objects encountered during the adventure. Two capture modes:

Photos and selfies are saved in the player's album and can be reviewed at any time.

Magnoboot Detection

Radar pulse (F key) that reveals buried excavation zones.

Risk Map

Overlay with colored zones: green (protected), yellow (at risk), red (threatened).

Sword Duel: Soldado Diego

At La Isabela, the combat against Diego is a side-view swordfighting mini-game instead of the turn-based combat system. After the warning dialogue, the player chooses:

Secret Boss: Spirit of the Cemí

A bullet hell secret fight on Isla Cabritos (Lago Enriquillo). Unlocked after delivering the sacred cemí idol to Enriquillo and receiving the Sword of Enriquillo.

Coordination mini-game to descend the Manantial de la Aleta vertical shaft.

Underwater exploration in the sacred Taíno cenote to find 3 artifacts.

Crown of the Cacique

After defeating Cacique Guacanagaríx in batú, he forfeits his crown as a permanent accessory (+10 reputation).

Reputation System

A reputation score (0-100) tracks the player's standing throughout the game:

4 reputation levels: Unknown (0-24), Known (25-49), Respected (50-74), Legendary (75-100).

Arrest Cutscene

After defeating trafficker Rodrigo Torres in the Punta Cana Airport, an arrest cutscene plays: airport security arrives, the artifacts are confiscated, and Torres is taken into custody. This transitions the story toward the final laboratory chapter.

Batú Mini-Game (Sidequest)

Batú was the sacred ball game of the Taínos. It was hit with hips (using a stone yoke), shoulders, elbows, knees, and head — never with hands or feet.

Offered as a sidequest by Higüemota in Taíno Settlement II — the player can accept or refuse. Side view with 2D physics:
