Inspired by Undertale: you can fight OR convince the enemy to calm down.
Each enemy has two emotional meters:
| Action | Effect | Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Attack | Direct damage to enemy | Hostility +5 |
| Talk | Convinced +12-25, Hostility -8-20 | None |
| Negotiate | Convinced +20, Hostility -20 (if successful) | 55% success, if fails +5 hostility |
| Item | Use inventory item | None |
| Flee | Escape from combat | Depends on enemy speed |
In the Zona Colonial, use civic activism options:
Post photos of threatened ruins on social media.
Organize a demonstration in front of the site.
Report the demolition to authorities.
File a legal injunction to stop the work.
Peaceful resolution: Méndez redesigns the hotel to protect the ruins. "It'll cost more, but it'll give it a unique value. And besides... it's the right thing to do."
At Lemba's Palenque, Marcos the lookout spots a colonial slave hunter approaching on the trail and triggers combat. The hunter is accompanied by a tracking hound that appears beside him on the combat screen. This combat uses standard options (Attack, Talk, Negotiate, Item, Flee) rather than custom options.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Health | 45 HP |
| Strength | 3 |
| Speed | 2 |
| Initial Hostility | 75 |
| Sprite | Colonial soldier (dark red uniform, conquistador helmet) + hound |
Hound attack: 35% chance on enemy turn — the hound bites the player (reduced damage, but raises hostility +3).
Peaceful resolution: "The soldier understood that you cannot chain someone who was born free." (+15 reputation)
Victory by force: "The hunter has fled. Our mountain remains free!" (+5 reputation)
The meter shows "Controlled" instead of "Convinced". Ecological control options:
Net to take it to the aquarium.
Lionfish is edible.
Barriers for coral.
Removal campaign.
The meter shows "Evidence:" — heritage law options:
DR cultural heritage law.
Material analysis.
International cooperation.
Convention against illicit trafficking.

At La Isabela, the combat against Diego is a side-view swordfighting mini-game instead of the turn-based combat system. After the warning dialogue, the player chooses:
| Option | Mode | Result |
|---|---|---|
| ⚔️ Attack | Aggressive | Normal fight — defeat Diego by depleting his HP |
| 💬 Talk | Pacifist | Friendly dialogue during the fight — conviction rises to 100 |
| 🤝 Negotiate | Pacifist | Same as Talk — negotiation dialogue |
| 🏃 Flee | Pacifist | No fight — immediate escape |
Controls: ← → move, E attack, Q block/parry, ↓ duck.
In pacifist mode, dialogue bubbles appear every 5 seconds and Diego slows down as conviction rises. Unique music: Blades of La Isabela.
A bullet hell secret fight on Isla Cabritos (Lago Enriquillo). Unlocked after delivering the sacred cemí idol to Enriquillo and receiving the Sword of Enriquillo.

After defeating Cacique Guacanagaríx in batú, he forfeits his crown as a permanent accessory (+10 reputation).
A reputation score (0-100) tracks the player's standing throughout the game:
4 reputation levels: Unknown (0-24), Known (25-49), Respected (50-74), Legendary (75-100).
After defeating trafficker Rodrigo Torres in the Punta Cana Airport, an arrest cutscene plays: airport security arrives, the artifacts are confiscated, and Torres is taken into custody. This transitions the story toward the final laboratory chapter.
Batú was the sacred ball game of the Taínos. It was hit with hips (using a stone yoke), shoulders, elbows, knees, and head — never with hands or feet.
Offered as a sidequest by Higüemota in Taíno Settlement II — the player can accept or refuse. Side view with 2D physics:
| Hit | Zone | Angle | Power |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hip (yoke) | Waist | 45° | Maximum |
| Shoulder | Chest | 60° | High |
| Head | Head | ~Vertical | Medium |
| Knee | Legs | 30° | Low (defensive) |
Rival AI: rebalanced to 72% speed with 30% intentional errors. First to 3 points wins.
💨 Quit the match: press Esc (or Q) at any time to abandon and return to the village with no penalty. You can retry by speaking to the Cacique again.
